Timing:
Applications summer positions are received through the fall with an application deadline of December 31. All reference forms and completed applications must be received by this date to be considered for an interview.
Contracts for the various positions range from 5 to 15 weeks in length during the summer.
Interviews are scheduled and take place in late January to February in a top secret south central Ontario location.
What is it like working at Camp Kwasind?

All positions are seasonal contracts and require residence at the camp during later June, July and August.
The hours of work are long. One day off per week is scheduled for each staff member. Accommodations are provided in a staff cabin or room shared with 1 or more other staff members / volunteers of the same gender. All meals and snacks will be eaten with the campers and other staff in the dining hall.
While the work that is done as a staff member is important, it is just as important to remember that you are a part of a Christian community while at camp. This community brings with it expectations for lifestyle and personal bahaviours.
Remuneration:
Some positions at Camp Kwasind are volunteer positions. Wages for paid summer staff start at $80 per week. In addition to this, the camp as part of the compensation provides room and board.
If you want to work at Camp Kwasind because you want to earn money, please consider applying somewhere else.
Raising support:
Working at camp is a conscious ministry choice. Some staff members who require funds to cover the expenses of attending school throughout the year find it difficult to meet all of their expenses solely on monies earned with their summer salaries. Some individuals and churches however have funds available to support individuals based on the mission work that is serving for the summer on staff at Camp Kwasind.
Staff members can approach individuals and home churches seeking support to augment their summer salary. Such support would be directed through the home church to the individual staff member. Camp Kwasind and can work with an individual staff member to assist with putting together an appeal for such fund raising.
Code of Conduct:
All staff members are asked to sign a letter of agreement that is part of the contract for employment. This letter outlines agreed and expected behaviours for all staff.
Applying for a position
Why apply for only one position? If you are qualified and would consider a variety of positions, please indicate that on your application. Where do you feel God is leading you?
People who have successfully completed volunteer service during the summer at Camp Kwasind will be considered for paid positions the following summer. The Camp Kwasind Leaders in Training course is also considered excellent preparation for applying to work at the camp.
If you have previously worked at Camp Kwasind, there is a seperate (shorter) application form for you to use. See below.
While we appreciate all applications, only candidates being considered will be contacted for an interview.

Special Qualifications / Equipment
Certain positions require previous experience or qualifications to be met. This includes waterfront and life guarding certification. Preference will be given to applicants that have experience and additional skills. Certain positions legally require people to be of a certain age before they can be considered for hiring.
Police Check
All positions serving at camp will be asked to provide a police check. The cost of this check is the responsibility of the staff member.
To prospective Staff Applicants
Do you want to spend your summer:
- Working extremely hard
- Having fun
- Being involved in creative life changing ministry
- Exerting yourself for long periods of time
- Captivating children and youth
- Proclaiming and demonstrating God’s love through Jesus
- Taking initiative?
Thank you for your interest in applying for a position with Camp Kwasind. Our camp has been challenging people of all ages with the truth about Jesus Christ for more than 60 years. The people who volunteer and work there have the important role of presenting an authentic Christian lifestyle as a witness to those around them – above all other duties.
The staff application form and reference package are designed to outline the qualities that an individual brings to the camp as a potential staff member. The gifts and abilities that God has equipped you with in order to serve Him are very important, as is your personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
All applications are reviewed and those people who are most suited will be invited to attend an interview. Following all of the interviews, everyone interviewed will be contacted. Those people who are offered positions will then have to obtain a police check, and make arrangements to provide for any required training, certification, or personal equipment that is required for the position. All staff must attend a staff training session at the camp in the spring. Starting and ending dates for specific positions will vary and will be dependent on your position.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you wish more information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Let us minister to you
Although you may not have thought about it, being at camp can be a wonderful holiday. Many of our volunteers at camp speak about their experiences in coming to serve at camp leading them to be refreshed and infused with energy to go back to their daily work and prepared for service to the Lord in their own church and community. Hopefully you too will be ministered to by being at camp and volunteering your time for such a worthy cause.
